Echinacea purpurea (Organic)

Native to North America, Echinacea is a perennial herb plant that has tall stems, bears single purple or pink flowers, and has a central cone that is usually brown in color. Used for centuries by the Plains First Nations as a general “cure-all,” researchers have studied Echinacea and its effects on the immune system since the 1930s.

Several studies suggest that Echinacea contains active substances that potently modulate the activity of the immune system, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and have antiviral and antioxidant effects. Studies have shown that Echinacea can have a modulatory/regulating effect on the immune system. In fact, a review of 14 clinical trials found that Echinacea reduced the odds of developing a cold by 58%.

Caution: Do not take if you have an auto-immune disorder or take immunosuppressive drugs. Might cause irritation in those allergic to plants in aster family.
